Couple and Family Therapy

I have expertise in marriage and family therapy. Special training includes the two-year certificate program at the Chicago Center for Family Health.
At various times, conflicts arise in families. Conflict can manifest in many ways including marital problems, eating disorders, parent- child relational problems, and substance abuse. At times, work stress, chronic health problems, emotional strife and financial problems can trigger or exacerbate family conflict. Often emotions erupt and rather than finding ways to come through the conflict, family members are left feeling hurt, disrespected, misunderstood, betrayed, abandoned or dismissed.
Our work together is to identify patterns that may be perpetuating the conflict. Each member of the family is respected and heard in the therapeutic process. Each member is helped to find ways to identify and express their perspectives in constructive ways. Through this process, deeper understanding, solutions to old problems and tolerance emerge as we develop a sense of the others’ struggles and points of view.
